SPARTAN RECORDS SIGNS PITTSBURGH ROCK BAND YOUNG FOX

 

 

 

Seattle based indie label Spartan Records is proud to announce the signing of Pittsburgh rock band Young Fox. The band joins an eclectic family of acts that include Barren Womb, Ourlives, Over the Ocean and Schematic among others.

 

Wasting no time, Young Fox will release their debut EP, Predecessors, via the label on July 22nd and has posted their first new song called “The Answer” today! “We’re super stoked to enter into a relationship with such a good group of people,” says drummer Chris Lehberger.  “We couldn’t have asked to feel more welcome and are beyond excited for the future. Knowing that we were working with people who truly believe in the music we want to make made signing with Spartan a no-brainer.”

 

The conception of Pittsburgh’s Young Fox came together when Martin Lunn (bassist and member of revered metal band Zao), Luke Cypher (vocals/guitar/keys) and Lehberger (drummer) went out for drinks back in 2012. After discussing an overall vision of the direction of music they wanted to make, the trio began writing and practicing together and eventually they brought in Brian Schultz (guitar) who rounded out the four-piece band.

 

To say the band is dedicated to their craft is an understatement. Over the last year Young Fox has been focused entirely on writing, rehearsing and recording and re-recording until reaching a point where they were completely satisfied with Predecessors.

 

Drawing influence from bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, Hum, Failure and Radiohead, Young Fox’s music has an abundant amount of depth and vision. The band’s long hours of writing and rehearsing paid off with a beautiful debut that’s textured and replete with sweeping guitars, introspective lyrics and incredibly memorable choruses, that exhibit a band that’s clearly on a path to a long, celebrated career.
