KING CRIMSON – “STARLESS“ (Red – 1974)

ProgTracks Note:  Those of you who follow me knew this was coming……

Saturday Night Live:  The mighty King Crimson from the French TV show “Melody” in 1974.  ”Starless” is a number that has not been performed live by King Crimson for decades…………until the 2014 “The Elements of King Crimson Tour”.

Seeing this played live this past Monday (with Tony Levin, Mel Collins, Jakko Jakszyk, Pat Mastelloto, Bill Frieslin, Gavin Harrison, and of course Robert Fripp) was beyond description.  But I will tell you that it was MUCH heavier than this version.  Standouts were Jakko’s vocals and Gavin’s drumming – stellar!

The Musicians:  Bill Bruford / drums, percussion; Robert Fripp / guitars, mellotron, devices; John Wetton / bass, vocals; David Cross – violin, keyboards (video)
