Nashville via Birmingham, AL group Banditos will
release their self-titled debut full-length on Bloodshot Records on May
12th. NPR Music is currently premiering the album’s lead single “Cry
Baby Cry,” saying about the band, “Three vocalists, a wicked guitarist who also
plays pedal steel, a banjo, an upright bass and a hot-footed drummer guarantee
that every song they play is stuffed with crazy rhythms and melodic energy…
The group came up in rowdy bars, and it shows. It plays to fill the room and
turn it on.”

Banditos is now available for pre-order on CD and
LP via Bloodshot’s website or digitally via
iTunes, in which purchasing parties will receive an instant MP3 download of
the lead single, “Cry Baby Cry.”
The album features 12 original songs
from the six-piece – tunes layered with as much grime as pinpoint songwriting
and feverish technical
savvy. Banditos hits on topics of mounting anxious desires, the struggles
of self-awareness and difficult interpersonal dynamics, and, then, finally just
giving in to it all and letting go. Recorded and mixed at The Bomb Shelter by
Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray For the Riff Raff, Benjamin Booker), the
album captures the band’s potent blend of ‘60s blues-fused acid rock; jangly,
hip-shake baby groove; garage punk scuzz; and bits of Muscle Shoals soul and
doo-wop sweetness.
In support of the new album, Banditos
will continue their extensive tour schedule with a run of March dates that includes several appearances
at SXSW.
