The time of music sharing has passed for us, we’ve tried it and it doesn’t help all that much. For years now we have been concentrating on promoting solo musicians, artists, bands by sharing their music. The majority of the music fans out there want to find music on their own so our attempts where not working as expected. Many bands themselves don’t really want that kind of help either so, what if we devote our time to finding the best opportunities for them instead? Building useful directories for you guys will be more useful than sharing your music don’t you think?
Let’s get to know more about these supportive people who do music reviews, interviews or radio shows. This is to be about the people behind the “brands” and what they have to offer. Hopefully we can land interviews with many of them to help us discover people in the industry who really can make a difference. We will be looking for services that are free or low-cost first but also those who have full support staffs. Listing those who have great things to offer will most definitely help the indie scene.
It is also our intention to help bring about social change between promoters, bloggers and musicians online to build stronger and longer lasting relationships. We believe that this will benefit all involved while putting the “social” back in social media. We all should slow down just a bit and take more time to develop our worded interactions online in an attempt at being less promotional.
So let’s start this off with a BANG and have a little contest! Do you know of such people who are great supporters of indie music? Please nominate them on Twitter using “I/We nominate @name as a great #indiehabit supporter!” hashtag required!
Nominations will be put in-front of a panel of other established bloggers and radio show hosts to decide the Top 10. The winners will then be listed on a brand new directory, “The Indie Supporters Directory“. Listed will be the details about them and what they do for the scene. This directory will then be promoted to bands and musicians to submit their work. All directories will be free to use! Winners will be announced on November 27th and the promotions to bands will start as soon as the directory is finished.
After the contest, there will be a submission process put into place where everyone interested can submit to be listed.
Hope to start seeing the nominations coming in starting now!
