Mothica: Experimental Artist Creates Remixes

Coastal Beats Media

The indie pop and experimental artist, Mothica, released a collection of remixed songs off her debut EP, Mythic, which released in early January. The trending track,”No One,” features beautiful vocalization and catchy beats, with the help of remixers DUNN & Kayge Calypso.

The track has picked up over 90K plays in its 2 weeks on Soundcloud, which is impressive for an emerging pop artist.

Mothica (McKenzie Ellis) is a Brooklyn, NY artist whose style fits under the “gloom pop” genre. Mythic was self-written, self-produced, and self-performed. Her lyrics romanticize alcoholism and toxic relationships:

“You curl my name with your lip
I take a drink, I hate it
I tell you what you want to hear, so I

Can catch my breath, and step away
Think about what to say, to you
While you come unglued…”
