Sonder: the realization that each passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.
This is the unofficial motto of indie folk band Sonder Saloon’s Gary Kazazian, Kaspar Kasazian, and Kenny Sanders, as of the release of their first EP Mackinaw. As in, recognizing that people in life are unique and whole. As in, transitioning from culture to culture and experiencing an array of sights. As in, recording their album in a population of 40 in Fishlake, Utah. As in, fishing at sunrise and sunset in the mountain creeks and becoming whole with nature.
Sitting side-by-side at Copa Vida Coffee in Downtown Pasadena, twin brothers Gary and Kaspar shared their spiritual and naturalistic process when recording Mackinaw: a sonder process to be exact.
“We have a naturally creative and close bond with each other,” said vocalist and guitarist Gary.
