HIGHLIGHTING A FEW OF THE BANDS@DESERT MOON METAL FESTIVAL
Kings Of Carnage “All-Metal Military Band”
Take three former US Marines, add two former US soldiers, stir in a love for heavy metal and put them all together at the world famous Musicians Institute in Hollywood and you have…KINGS OF CARNAGE. They took shape in 2012 when two of its members, guitarist Zach Fenimore (U.S. Marine Corps) and vocalist Micah McCullough (U.S. Marine Corps), were deployed in the Helmand Province executing missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom during the war in Afghanistan. After several months of writing and adding Nathan Kotur (U.S. Marine Corps) on drums; Zach met guitarist Jason Dutton (U.S. Army) in April of 2013, while standing in line for the Veterans Assistance office at Musicians Institute (MI). The band found their “missing link” in bassist Aaron Mercier (U.S. Army) in August of 2013 and the completed lineup played their final show as Chaos Incarnate at The Cobalt in Canoga Park, CA. In February of 2014, the newly-named Kings of Carnage emerged and by May they had tracked all the instruments for their debut album, The Crimson Stone. In August of 2014, Kings of Carnage won Headbang for the Highway’s ‘Battle for Knotfest’ and performed in October on the festival with bands such as Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch, Testament and Anthrax. K.O.C. were one of Music Connection’s Top 100 Unsigned Live Acts for 2014. They re-emerged once more in Music Connection’s March 2015 edition, winning Musician’s Institute’s Showcase Showdown for their, “…wicked rendition of Devo’s “Whip It”…” In April, 2015 at the famed Whiskey A Go-Go, Kings of Carnage took home the Indie Music Channel – Best Rock Band & Best Rock Recording awards.
