Everyone knows that big things come from Texas and when it comes to power-pop songstress, Erin Bennett, you need to be prepared for just how big an impact this Texan makes. Her dynamic vocals soar through her well-crafted songs backed by a weird mix of synth, rock and folk that leaves vapour trails; keeping audiences captivated long after the show is over. The seductive backing vox and choreography from Erin’s backing singers, the ‘Sensational Sapphic Sisters’, brings animation to the message in her lyrics. Erin has built her ‘EB Band’ with musicians who share not only virtuosity but an unhindered understanding of the direction in which she travels.

It’s worth mentioning at this point that Erin’s performance is a concept show taken from ‘ReFlowered,’ her concept album. That concept is explained in her book, ‘Girl ReFlowered.’ So, here in a nutshell, is the story:

Having relocated to the UK in 2008 with her band, the all female, folk/rock trio,  Syren at just 20 years old, Erin began touring heavily in Europe. The band had released their debut album ‘Dehumanized’ in the USA and had been well received by  music press. Syren were renowned for being a hard-working unsigned band who had played more than 200 packed shows in their first year. Sadly however, in 2011 Syren drummer and Erin’s civil partner, Jo was diagnosed with breast cancer; a cancer that took her life in January 2012.

Having lost her woman and facing the end of her career at 24 years old, Erin plunged from the music scene and, almost, life. She wrote one more song – for her late lady.  ‘Never Give Up The Fight’: it went on to win her ‘Frankie Miller Songwriter of the Year’ at the 2012 Scottish New Music Awards. After tail-spinning into alcoholism, depression and a toxic promiscuity that nearly finished her, Erin was coaxed back to the live music scene by her old friends, British space-rockers, Hawkwind. It’s fair to say that rock & roll saved her life. She formed a new band and, after the long-awaited release of ‘ReFlowered’ in March 2015, Erin wrote and released the album’s companion book ‘Girl ReFlowered’ which explains the story behind the songs.

The passion that Erin Bennett has shown in her album and her book is amplified when she plays live and one can see that the stage is where Erin grew and where she belongs. Audiences UK-wide now have the chance to experience the Girl ReFlowered, as she embarks on her first solo UK tour beginning in May.
