PLANTS SINGLE “COOL LIKE YOU”

Cool Like You is a Dark and Broody piece of work that hits close and is a fast “head nodder”, it sinks in and is a quick addictive rhythm, solid percussion line and full but simple to listen to synth, very nice!

British Columbia duo Plants have some new sounds for listeners with their new track, “Cool Like You”. The new release once again proves how diverse the young duo is, as they blend elements of funk, pop, and disco to compose a flirty track perfect for a night on the town. The artist utilizes the record to discuss the power of attraction and how this energy has is strong enough to unite two souls from two completely different perspectives.

The cousins illustrate their stellar artistry as they experiment with electronic beats and vintage guitar riffs; an ideal combo for the world’s millennial, while at the same time mastering their songwriting capabilities. Plants really have a gem on their hands with this latest release.

Plants is a collaboration of cousins, Alex Valenzuela and Gabe Lefno, from Surrey, BC. Plants mainly work with the psychedelic genre but also dip into indie rock as well. Both Alex and Gabe have been involved with playing and recording music for the past 6 years, they both have the full ability play guitar, bass, and drums, with Alex as lead vocals.

Plants is currently writing and recording music to hone in on their wide array of genres that they play. Plants started four years ago with Alex messing around with electronic/house music on Reason 6, while Gabe was writing rock songs on guitar. Gabe noticed that with his ability to write music on guitar and Alex’s ability to produce and refine recordings digitally could go hand in hand to create something great.

Gabe had the inspirational idea of him and his cousin starting as a small seed of a group that would record music as a hobby in their free time to sprouting into a well-known and respected band being able to share their music with the world by doing the thing they love most, thus the name Plants was born.

“The first track from their upcoming album shows how the band strays from any genre classification—and sounds damn good while doing it.”
