The Sleeping Sounds Dance with Addiction on Smooth Indie Single
Cleveland-based indie-pop trio The Sleeping Sounds has released a music video for their first single “Figure it Out” on VEVO. The soulful and intricate pop groove tells a poignant tale of addiction and depression.
“The song is based completely on a true story of a girl I had dated who had went completely down the wrong path,” says guitarist Anthony Lauletta. “She lived a life haunted by addiction and anxiety, making all of the wrong decisions in hopes she would become somebody. While her story’s a bit extreme, the girl in this song could be anyone… at one point or another, we’ve all walked the line of having a big ego, but low self-worth. We’ve all felt that discontent.“
The video was directed by Ned Ingalls and shot at The Foundry Concert Club in Cleveland, Ohio. Purchase “Figure it Out” now on iTunes.

About The Sleeping Sounds: Cleveland natives Anthony Lauletta, Zach Daniels and Mike LaSpina met through playing in different bands around the area, all expressing their interest in creating something completely different than the standard rock and hardcore music that filled the Cleveland music scene, and giving their scene, and their city, a fresh sound. Blending an ever-prevalent ’80s sonic palette with rock instrumentation and R&B vibes, The Sleeping Sounds create a one-of-a-kind sound that could be best described as The Police meets Maroon 5. Previous to meeting and writing music together, Zach, Mike & Anthony admittedly had been pulled away from music entirely, all facing their own personal struggles and regaining their lives’ stability, which gave them the fuel to write “Figure It Out.” While the song is lathered in catchy hooks and dancy rhythms, “Figure It Out” tells the dark (and true) story of a girl struggling to find herself through the perils of addiction, depression and loneliness. The band tells this dark tale as a reminder that you can make your own reality, whatever that reality may be. |
