In direct quote from BBC Reviews -“Keep an eye out for Kennedy, he’s a man going places“
I have listened to and now love the entire album and I give it, in review, the best of measure. The new album by James Kennedy, simply titled Home, is truly an enriching selection of songs that tell a story of what’s important in life, from the 1st track to the last, songs of love, hope, self-awareness and more.
The track Meaning of Life is a hard look at life, and like life itself, it is unfortunately short, but it is full, powerful and holds all that it can be. Followed by Unconditional, a look at what love is and should be, moving on through the album, one thing that is found, the album Home is not a self-indulgent romp, all the songs put others in focus, how the centerpiece of the album are the people in life that make life worth living, Home is one gigantic tribute to all the things that make his life important, and after listening to Home, it made me reflect an what was important to me, and I finished listening to this album thinking of the ones I love, and that is an amazing thing, for an artist and his work to make you realize what is the meaning of life and the love that it holds for you. Some other exceptionally powerful songs to listen too are Just a Man, Misfits, Forbidden and the title track Home.
Some people may know James for being the frontman of heavy Alt Rock band Kyshera, however, many years of touring eventually took its toll on James & he began suffering with depression. After putting the band on hiatus last year, James entered a period of reflection & ended up unintentionally writing ‘the best songs I have ever written’.
‘Home’ became a form of therapy for James and charts his journey from Dark to Light in an incredibly melodic, emotional & honest record. With comparisons to Stereophonics, John Mayer, The Script & 30 Seconds to Mars, ‘Home’ signals a steep change in musical direction for James but remains unmistakably his own. James produced the album himself & plays every instrument.
