Wayfarers, the indie-pop duo formed by Katie Cecil, former guitarist of the Walt Disney / Buena Vista Records all-girl rock band KSM, and Anthony Purpura, who formerly played in bands such as For the Foxes and Stereo Skyline, has been on the rise since the debut of “Just Our Style” in 2015. Today, the group is thrilled to unveil a new infectious track, “KINGS,” premiering exclusively on Kick Kick Snare. “KINGS” is a wildly catchy tune of nostalgia, paying homage to the recklessness of our youth and love for music. The track is a more mature look into Wayfarers’ creative brain, while staying true to their upbeat, infectious roots. A more minimalistic approach to production than a few of the earlier songs, “KINGS” leaves room for the melody to shine above all else. Lyrically, “KINGS” paints a picture of young recklessness, being inspired by music and having it making you almost invincible, like the kings of the record store. On their music, Wayfarers stated:
“‘LET LOOSE. The world is yours. Our music is generally really positive and “feel-good,” with a fun beat you can dance and rock out to.” – Wayfarers
Wayfarers is an American indie-pop duo based in both Los Angeles and New York, consisting of Katie Cecil (vocals) and Anthony Purpura (multi-instrumental). The duo met years ago while both were touring in other bands; Katie in a band called KSM which toured with acts like Demi Lovato, and Anthony in a band called For The Foxes, which toured with acts such as Echosmith. When their previous bands dissolved, Katie and Anthony were immediately drawn to each other creatively and formed Wayfarers. The band aspires to create positive songs with uplifting messages and melodies over upbeat guitar riffs. That formula, in addition to their love of indie-pop, makes for a sound that is uniquely their own without reinventing the wheel. Their music is quickly gaining people’s’ attention, with nearly 898K Spotify spins with more and more activity each day. In addition, the duo has had their infectious songs featured in ads by companies such as Shoedazzle, Facebook, Verizon, and more.
