WHAT THE PRESS IS SAYING ABOUT MICHAEL HORNBUCKLE’S SOUL REPO

“Eleven-track adrenaline rush that wastes no time in capturing our attention. “Sweat” draws us in with its lively, distorted sound, while “Baby Rock,” keeps us in the zone with a hypnotic groove that is tantalizing, and the short but sweet guitar solo is a bonus. The players come together like the movement of a fine Swiss watch, and the vocals are first class throughout. Go out and get your copy today!”-  AMERICAN BLUES SCENE

“From the first notes of “Candle for Mary,” Hornbuckle redefines the blues with this amazing collection of songs. Of all the artists we have recently reviewed, this is the one we would love to see perform live. If you only get one new album this holiday season, then this is the one you want. Get out and Get It now!” – LA MUSIC CRITIC

“Me & Melody adds a bit of pop to the mix with a snappy drum riff and a certain melodic hook, reinforced by Alexander “Ace” Baker. With a bit of lead in his boots and some funk in his foot, Hornbuckle lays out one of the coolest tracks on the release with a great beat. Sarah Snead on backing vocals adds nice texture and Hornbuckle’s own guitar and vocals really hit the spot. Bluesy ballad, Risin’ Sun is really nicely written with soulful vocals over arpeggiated guitar chords. One of the most soulful guitar solos on the release also makes this one of my absolute favorites on the release.” –  BMANS BLUES REPORT

Michael Hornbuckle – Bio

Michael Hornbuckle has been bringing blues and rock music to people for 2 decades. Homegrown in the Mile High City, as was his father, legendary bluesman Bobby Hornbuckle who had Michael backing him on drums at 13. While Bobby’s journey ended in ’96, Michael took over the torch along with brother Brian (bass).  Inheriting Bobby’s old Gibson 335, the brothers began working wherever, whenever, and cutting their first recording. In 1998 “Pass The Torch” was released. It’s a raw, respected blues/rock album including; original cuts, covers such as Creams’ version of Outside Woman Blues, and a tip of the hat to the man who passed on his love for blues, with a Bobby Hornbuckle original, Down In The Valley.

Early 2000’s after a Red Rocks appearance warming up the Doobie Brothers, he spent time touring the country with Texas blues monster Vince Converse, and releasing the acoustic blues album Conbuckle Station “Here Come The Blues” on New Shoes Records.  “Lost & Found By Trial & Error” was released in 05′. It was an opportunity to evolve a songwriting style, as well as a defining vocal and guitar sound.

A happenstance meeting in Los Angeles in 2012 with world class Universal Picture music producer, and former member of Mother’s Finest, Alex ‘Ace’ Baker, produced the album Virtue & Vice. In 2015 after an appearance at the Telluride Blues Fest, the Mile High Blues Society recognized Michael by awarding him both “Best Blues Band” and “Best Self-Produced Album,” and sent he and his band to Memphis, TN to represent Colorado at the Internation Blues Challenge. At the end of 2016, the Colorado blues Society awarded Michael “Best Blues Band in 2016.” Also at the tail end of 2016, Michael Hornbuckle released the album, Soul Repo.
