Indie Pop Band ‘The Brocklebank’ Announce Release of Debut EP ‘Criminals’

4-piece indie pop outfit ‘The Brocklebank’ have recently announced details of their debut EP release which becamer available from 5th May.
Their sound is distinct, taking influence from both modern indie rock and 80’s pop influences and receiving support and advice from pop icon Roy Stride of Scouting For Girls. Comprising of Curtis Hicks (vox & guitar), Lewis Hawkins (guitar), Cameron Inkpen (bass) and Shae Owen-Phillips (drums) who met solely through their love for music, which can be heard loud and clear throughout ‘Criminals’. After being scouted on Twitter the band soon realised that what they were doing together could become a permanent thing.
“We’re essentially kids but we don’t just do this for fun. It transcends that. This is our life. We didn’t know each other before this band & we weren’t introduced to music through our friendship or via school. We all found it when we needed it. We’re not in a band for any reason other than we all value music so completely that we can’t not make music. It’s a time in our lives where we don’t have anything else. We’re 18 year olds departing school & that’s always going to be full of turmoil, so we document that & give it life in our songs. What’s not interesting at 18?”

Although the boys cite Bombay Bicycle Club, The 1975 and Blossoms as some of their influences, they also suggest that the influences they take from these bands aren’t necessarily musical, instead they take emotion from songs written by these bands and allow this emotion to take them in whatever direction it does musically when writing. Although straight out of school, its clear that musically the band have a very mature outlook.

‘The Brocklebank’ played at their EP launch show at the Pontypridd Muni Arts Centre on 6th May 2017 after their EP release on 5th May. More information about the four piece can be found on their social pages and official website.
