Johnny Raincloud : Songs of the North West In Spades
Johnny Raincloud Indie Band local to Portland finished their 3rd Release “Objects In Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear“, a 3 song EP we happily offer for your approval. Recorded by the band in an old steel warehouse their drummer had been living in. It also happened to be the coldest wettest winter Portland had ever had in over 70 years so, as quoted by the band “it was a nice outlet for us”.
The EP is at present, is unreleased but will be available online on June 15th of this year…
Objects In Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear has a very raw appeal, sound wise, it is finished but not over polished with a real emotional drive. It is significant and has the North West alt rock feel that is not the Grunge hash sound that hits the top 40 pop. It is real and bold. The guitar effects are brilliant and the drummer has killer timing, fav on this EP, The Wolf in My Back Seat, which has a 60’s guitar hum but more than 2 or 3 chords, it is imply brilliant in its simplicity, with the hypnotic surf rock and post punk harmonics, really thrilling.
Sadly, the track is only for the press at the moment, but, as a sample of their sound, I offer a chance to hear their past works.
