Ray Goren Takes His Music In A Different Direction With New EP, FREE; Here’s What The Media Is Saying

“Free is aimed straight at the pop charts, with cuts like “Don’t Know Better” incorporating a jazzy hip-hop rhythm that Goren layers soulful vocals over, inserting hot but brief guitar solos here and there. “Emergency” will likely resonate with Goren’s female fans in particular; the song finds the singer getting overheated while appreciating his girl’s physical attributes.”

ANTI-MUSIC

“Today’s review concerns a young man named Ray Goren. Presently Mr. Goren is 16 years-old and is putting out some amazing music, including his new album Free. The title track features a lush vocal opening over a nice keyboard riff and it becomes more apparent that Goren has some strong vocal chops. I often preach that it’s up to artists in any form or genre to challenge the status quo and to redefine what it is they do. Ray Goren is doing just that with Free.”

In a recent review of Ray’s solo show, L.A. Jazz Scene wrote, “at Genghis Cohen he played solely with the aid of a sampler for multi tracks and rhythms to showcase soon-to-be-released new songs. Those who came were won over by the guitarist/singer’s talent and disarming personality. Equally arresting in a different way was techno pop “Manners” that was well suited for the present-day pop scene and also included ripping guitar.”

The Los Angeles Beat were also in attendance and writes, “Ray Goren performed in a solo show at Genghis Cohen in Los Angeles, showcasing his new-found mastery of writing his own songs, as well as his treatment of a few covers. The show was well-received by the packed room.”
