AVANT POP PROJECT LOVECOMMISSION DROPS NEW VIDEO

“This is catchy stuff. Filled with droning keyboards/guitars, a rumbling bassline and pleasing lyrics, this tune has an almost throwback-feel to it, but with enough new-age qualities that it feels fresh and ready for mass consumption.” (Pancakes and Whiskey)

“You Make It Alright” seems to speak for itself. It is sweet, soulful, yet emblematic of a quirky sort of indifference endemic to a songwriter who recognizes his own heartbreak, yet remains willfully aloof in the interest of his own musical vision.

Central figure, vocalist, guitarist and mastermind behind the project, Pat Scarlett, has maintained a shrouded profile since LOVECOMMISSION’s first EP, On the West Side, that dropped October 2016. The EP found its way onto rotation on scattered college radio stations across the U.S. and introduced a brand of alt-pop replete with synthy strings and gritty, orchestral guitar arrangements. There was no official release party or straightforward press. When asked about the band, where it came from, how it developed, what it is, his only response is, “listen to the music.”

Avant-pop project, LOVECOMMISSION, release their video, “You Make it Alright,” as a precursor to their debut, full length album, Acid Dreams and War Machines, due out this Summer. “You Make It Alright” seems to speak for itself. NY-based LOVECOMMISSION emerged in 2016.

Now, LOVECOMMISSION is back, and this time what was raw, perhaps somewhat unformed, is now a more refined, bittersweet avant-pop vision.  Whatever LOVECOMMISSION is, it is something new,  melding established genres: shoegaze, garage-pop, indie and alt-rock, into their own alt-pop vision.  Wailing guitars linger in the background as 80s synths support Scarlett’s vocal melodies – Scarlett’s voice reminiscent at times of a Flaming Lip’s style, detached sweetness, while at others dipping to a soothing, theatrical rumble.

Stay tuned for more from this mysterious artist & band, including a video for “You Make It Alright,” that introduces a new player in New York’s Alternative music scene.
