Imagine if you will, a buddy offers you $5.00 to ride a wagon full of TNT down a 45 Degree Hill full of rocks and potholes into a Burning Barn… what would you say –“ Here, Hold My Beer”…
That is nothing compared to the rush and excitement you would get from listening to Up To No Good by The Hall Monitors, awesome “Garage Rock” with a 50’s / 60’s Rock & Roll feel, The Hall Monitors have really topped themselves in this production.
Hidden Volume Records presents The Hall Monitors, “Up To No Good” album. This long-awaited full length from these DC garage legends includes 14 sizzling cuts running the gamut from gut-bucket shouts to R&B rave ups and beyond. A well-regarded, high-energy live act some have deemed “bravado-infused R&B and snarling punk,” the band pays equal tributes to Chuck Berry, Chess Records, Johnny Thunders and any number of damaged iconoclasts from the American rock n’ roll graveyard. “Girls” is a primitive Stax-like plea, “She’s My Methadone” is hand-clapping bandstand pop and “Lord I’m a Sinner” is electric blues by way of CBGBs. Its fun and you can dance to it. That’s all you need.
