The Holifields
The Holifields have just released their debut self-titled EP The Holifields. Being compared to the likes of King Gizzard, The Lizard Wizard and Hawkwind, their EP combines classic psychedelic and progressive rock with tons of different South American and Latin instrumentation/percussion.
This band reached out to us via email, a very humble introduction and their links, so, I immediately checked them out, so often we get the “we are a gift from God” emails and the bands fall short of what was promised.
The Holifields do have an early Pink Floyd sound; influenced by the early to mid-sixties sounds and they do have a way with their timing that gives a feeling of urgency. But they have a great insight to a future in Prog, the drummer has a steady handle on the beat and the Bass keeps in step, the guitar has fun with melodies but keeps it clean and simple, the music is not over mixed or over sampled, in fact, dynamically, all the music has a great “Live” sound. I would define this band to ones to watch, good things are coming from them, sure of it !
So far, my favorite track is Magic Tea, very avant-garde and the Masks, well … Trippy!
We have 3 videos to offer you as well as the Bandcamp link to listen to and purchase their album.
Enjoy the trip
