Faith Healer – Sterling Silver
The new LP from Edmonton’s Jessica Jalbert aka Faith Healer, now joined by multi-instrumentalist Renny Wilson, arrives next month via Mint Records. It’s a mix of garage-punk, classic songwriting, and, on display here, shimmering pop-rock.
Ivy Sole – Rooftop
Philly artist and U Penn advisor Ivy Sole has a new an EP of intimate and innovative work. “Rooftop” presents a “concisely sharp sense of lyricism, while addressing societal concerns in normalizing tragic injustices,” says The Deli Magazine.
Kyle Hall – Teacher Plant
Detroit producer Kyle Hall melds his hometown’s “legacy for sleek house with jazzy soul,” per Pitchfork, and on his latest cut delivers a breezy groove tailor-made for a heat wave. Hall says it’s inspired by the healing powers of natural flora.
Yumi Zouma – December
The most-blogged track this week belongs to New Zealand pop favorites Yumi Zouma. With “palm-muted guitars, quiet handclaps, melodies that swoop and soar,” per NPR, it arrives alongside news of their follow-up to 2016 debut Yoncalla.
Lushloss – Gutter
There’s a thoughtful piece on Gold Flake Paint highlighting essential albums by transgender artists. Included is Asking/Bearing, released last week by Seattle experimentalist Lushloss, “an album that feels undeniably human in its beauty.”
