Mcbaise has announced his second full length album, Windowsill, on Dirty Melody Records, first single “Le Jardin” is available On Soundcloud

Jazzy, Bouncy, Ambient and a fresh outlook on Originality, Le Jardin has captured the ears of fans that look for the obscure overtures of a true musical artist that expands the mind.

Mcbess is an illlustrator and musician originally from the south of France, living nowadays in London. From playing drums, saxophone and percussion in a jazz band in Cannes as a teenager, to being part of multiple rock bands in London, it’s been quite the journey.

During the winter of 2014 Mcbess recorded first album Seabass in the south of France, between two family dinners, a way to capture the almost post-apocalyptic mood that resides in Cannes during the rest of the year in this dormant resort. Giving birth to “mcbaise”, becoming a sandbox to create some smooth tunes with the right amount of “weird”.

Windowsill was written in almost the same manner, making a intricate cocktail of nostalgic references, abstract humor and jazz chords. It’s an ode to 18 years spent in the south, romanticising some memories while infusing his feeling of disdain for this part of the world. It’s all about contrast, stories of growing up in place made up of sun and boredom.

Recorded in London with Muff Meridol of Wayfarer Sound Studio, using some unconventional recording techniques to achieve the sound that Mcbess was looking for. Mellotron, marimbas, 80’s synth, all this on top of a solid rhythm section.

Matt Christensen and Gregory Talon play drums on the album, all other instruments played by Mcbess.

Mcbaise will start performing live as of this summer, lining up dates in Europe and South America.
