33RPM Takes Fans for a Fun Filled Spin in Santa Maria California.

By Joseph Timmons: IndiePulse Music Magazine

33RPM is an original rock / reggae fusion band from California’s Central Coast. Lucas Pearson on keys and Brothers, Mark and Brian Conaway on drums and bass form a solid and groovy platform for Brent Brown’s tasty guitar and solid songwriting.

Recently formed, the group has recently released their debut album for worldwide distribution and is already working on the next full album. Having played dozens of shows in the last ten months, always rehearsing and writing new material everyone in the band feel it is just the beginning for 33RPM.

Tonight’s show was at the Figueroa Mountain Brewery and Pub in Santa Maria California, which in the past year has become a fantastic location for local artists to perform in an area that, until now has had a limited opportunity base for such artists.

Figueroa was oddly quiet tonight, the bar side and dinner side were busy, but it was a very intimate crowd. The band came on and it was easy to see they were on point, their sound live was incredibly well mixed, for some local bands with no sound crew, it is difficult to get a well-mixed sound outside of the studio, but, after talking to band members, they all have years of experience, which showed in their professional and exceptional performing skills.

As a personal comment, this is one of the few bands I have seen recently that sounds as good, if not better than in the studio, their energy makes all the difference. The rhythm section was hot and in perfect time, the keyboardist was straight out of this world, and the guitarist, while he did have some effect in play, used them seldom and was able to sound like two guitarists performing at the same time in perfect unison.

Opening with “I Shot the Sheriff” in a Reggae / Rock fusion, they lead into a set of originals written by Brent Brown and the band, in their set they also included a fun version of John Lennon’s “Imagine” which was a hit with the audience.

Their 2nd set however was much different, as people came in off the street because of the music flowing out onto the mall space, 33RPM started showing their “Down and Dirty” side, playing some very groove inspired pieces and closing the night with a phenomenal cover of “Psycho Killer” by the Talking Heads. All in all, it was well worth the trip to the one venue in town that is making it possible for great bands like 33RPM to be heard, making for a truly exciting Friday Night.

33RPM will be performing next at the Figueroa Mountain Brewing location at 1462 E Grand Ave, Arroyo Grande, California – more at the bands Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/33RPMMUSIC and on their ReverbNation page http://www.reverbnation.com/33rpm3
