Event Editorial and Interview with Dustin Wilkins of Syndicate Productions
By Joseph Timmons: IndiePulse Music Magazine
Music festivals have been a huge boon to the Musical community, with promoters and event organizers like Vans and others, it has given thousand a chance to see great musical performers do what they do best, Rock the Show. However, it has always been less than supportive of the Indie Bands and smaller known performers, always highlighting the bigger names and not really promoting the newcomers that need the boost.
IndieStock is the game changer, Dustin Wilkins and Business partner Anthony Appello, of Syndicate Productions saw the need for a festival that would not just support the music scene, but give a strong and supportive hand to the artists that are making waves in the waters, making it possible to bring to reality the dreams of young artists that have given their all to make it to the IndieStock Stages.
IndieStock will be hitting Pico California on October 28th, 2017 and the show is already being touted as the 1st and most exciting event of the fall / winter music season. Artists performing this year are P.O.D, Fused By Defiance, Never Your Zero, Gravity Lane, Lynch Mob, Dirty Machine, Six Gun Sal, Stonebreed, Osairis, Angeles, FiFi Larue and more, all of these are Heavy Hitters in their distinctive genres and this will be a major event.
Creating what will be the Indie Scene “Rocktober” event is not easy, it takes the Iron will and Genius of one who leaves nothing to chance, IndiePulse was able to get a few moments with Dustin Wilkins of Syndicate Productions to get a idea of what’s on the Musical Menu.
IPM: When did you start this program?
2017 is the first year of the indie stock festival, it is a major undertaking so it’s “make or break” time.
IPM: How are the fans receiving it, expecting large turn outs?
Yes, so far a ton of people are responding very positively on social media, we are also receiving large Fm Radio support from stations such as KLOS, JACK FM, KNX, and more.
IPM: What’s it like for you to plan a project so large?
Stressful, a lot like herding cats with so many moving parts. Things like promotions, bands, the venue, staging, the branding, etc. so many thing going on at once.
IPM: How do you expect this year’s turn out?
We are so far expecting a huge and positive result, it seems everybody involved are really excited to make this the best possible concert and performance event of the year.
IPM: Who are performing this year?
Well, besides about 15 top indie bands, we have POD and LYNCHMOB. We may possibly be adding TRAPED and one more “Big Name” performer to announce shortly.
IPM: Who are some of the sponsors, and how is their input?
We use very few sponsors; we do have a few partners like World Music Nashville, The Label Group, Curtain Call Records and Youngblood Productions, they back us with backlines, securing large name artists, staging, etc.
IPM: Other than the great musical talents planning to appear, what are some of the other attractions?
We have many different vendors, a marvel and DC Cosplay show with Batman, Bane, and Wonder Woman. A custom motorcycle contest and show as well as a custom car show, best Halloween costume contest, possibly even a haunted hayride this year.
IPM: What are future plans? Do you plan to create a multiple day festival like Vans or Lollapalooza?
We are looking at doing 5 shows a year, from LA, Nashville, Austin, FT Lauderdale, and then Phoenix. If the public response is good enough, we were thinking multiple music genres over two days.
IndieStock is poised to make the Hard Rock / Metal Scene bust out and take a stronger Festival Venue appearance, and with people like Dustin Wilkins and Anthony Appello of Syndicate Productions, we are all looking towards this event to see where the next big names in music will come from.
