OSAIRIS Rocks the IndieStock Music Festival
On Saturday 28th 2017, at the Pico Rivera Sports Arena, I was impressed… now, I know that sounds like a jaded and less than humble comment, but in my many years of doing reviews and music journalism, I have not seen a band perform live like Osairis performed, they were for one super tight, the groove was amazingly rich and powerful, and for the Vocalist, to also be the drummer, well, true power trios don’t hit the stage with the ferocity of skill and talent as these 3 young men, whom during the after performance interview, I found to be playing in this line up for less than 3 years!
As mentioned, OSAIRIS are Aundra Island on Drums and Vocals, Casey Loudon on Guitar and Gaku Murata on Bass, three men destined to make their mark on the music scene both locally and globally.
Without making this about “race”, I would like to say that the diversity of culture and the unity they share in supernatural chemistry they have is spellbinding.
Aundra Island, drummer is a percussion force to be reckoned with, his skill in drumming is sublime, but add to his ability as a vocalist, perfect timing and humility as an artist will catapult him to top ranking in the drummers world.
Add to this the powerful and immensely focused performance skills of Casey Loudon, who in interview, I felt comparing him to Alex Lifeson of Rush was not too far a reach, if anything, it was a justifiable match in guitar technique.
Their bassist, Gaku Murata, is an enigma, with no pun intended and all respect granted, watching him play was like watching a Zen Master performing the most graceful, powerful and delicate of martial arts, I have seen a variety of excellent Bassists perform, yet, during the performance of a Led Zeppelin fusion piece, it was as if he channeled the talent of John Paul Jones himself.
Here was our interview, I apologize for the sound issues, but after all, it was during the Music Festival, Backstage and an arena where several bands were performing.
I truly feel this group is destined for greatness, and may be the next major Power Trio to grace the national and international stages. and I will make sure they do !
Listen to OSAIRIS perform their song “Dinosaur”
Here is another Video I found on the band from the IndieStock festival.
