CORE is Shawn Wells, Triston Russell, Christopher Bailey, Jerry Hatfield II, hailing out of Beckley, WV, they bill themselves as “Authentic Appalachian Rock”. Core also quotes themselves as band that favors “Song-writing, impassioned singing, guitar-riffing, bass-thumping, drum-pounding, gritty sweating rehearsals, watching the WVU Mountaineers, and fishing the New River.”
This sounds like a very modest statement, most rock bands would try to make themselves out to be so much more, but I found that hidden behind this very, very humble self-analysis, the band, at their “CORE” is so much more!
Listening to their music was a pleasure, strong development, well mixed and great production value on a technical scale allowed their talent to shine. Core has a great chemistry, the music is sublime and easy to love, great music and fantastic vocals. At present, their most recent work can be found on their YouTube page.
My favorite track, now available for your listening pleasure is “Coup De Gras”, This is a solid track with powerful lyrics and message. Another Track, which has an almost Diametrically Opposite style is Sufferer’s Covenant, which has a 60’s style sound, reminiscent to the Electric Blues, as a a Blues / Rock piece, it’s really well done.
CORE has great potential as an up and coming band with strong talent and style, staying true to what brought them together, a love for music and a voice that needs to be heard.
