Red Bird Studio presents the new album False Start by Bronwen Roberts
The album False Start is now available on iTunes, Spotify, GooglePlay and other Online Services.
Start. Stop. Scratch that. Do over. This is the story of False Start, the debut full-length album of indie singer-songwriter Bronwen Roberts. After several re-beginnings, the project came to fruition in fall 2017, marking the artist’s official launch onto the independent recording scene. With nods to songwriters like Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, and Leonard Cohen, the album combines a personal feel with polished sound — warm vocals, acoustic instrumentation, and soulful expression.
Along with the other songs on the album, the title track and single “False Start” is indicative of the artist’s use of Brazilian rhythms and levadas, or finger-picking techniques. Percussionist Stefan Gonzalez — a leader of Dallas’ avant-garde music scene and thrice-voted Dallas Observer Music Award “best drummer” — fills out the soundscape with earthy and driving hand percussion. Between simple instrumentation and emotive vocals, the overall quality of music is rich, resonant, and unconventional.
