IndiePulse Album Review: REVERSE by Reseda
The group Reseda from Northern Sweden is back, on the Veritabel Fonogram Record Label.
Review by Joseph Timmons: IndiePulse Music Magazine
Reseda’s latest album REVERSE pushes the band’s ideas of music to the forefront in favor of the melodies and creative orchestration of intelligent composition.
Reseda shows mastery in slowcore, The Radio Dept-like shoegaze, stringed-folk arrangements, as well as peppy post- rock. Melancholy is the common thread weaving together Reverse’s musical tapestry. This eclectic blend of musical influences yields an original creation. The album is so diverse that it could be perceived as a compilation album from any respectable label.
With predominantly instrumental material, Reseda invites the listener to step into a world where the universal becomes personal. Prepare to let Reverse envelop you with empathy and comfort for the darkness of autumn. Yet, with the injection of substantial lyrics that make passing thoughts permanent.
In Review: REVERSE by Reseda has a dream state quality, in description a blend of R.E.M, The Cure and Squeeze but without the “woe”, as mentioned, the lyrical quality is more of a melancholy remembrance, images of times past, good or bad, the memory is what matters. REVERSE is has an 80’s alternative sound but has a modern rock twist, it is somber and distant. My Favorite tracks on this album are the title track REVERSE, The Horror, Ending of a Dream and DD22.
The bands of Europe take music to a level that transcends the “in the moment” feeling that is often in American Music, European bands write from the point of emotion and feelings that are considered life making events. Reseda has taken the moments of their lives and immortalized them into the notes of each song, making them permanent facets of living.
The album REVERSE launched October 14th, 2017 and is available on Spotify and the Veritabel Fonogram page: http://www.resedamusic.com
