Adam Matschulat opens new project with ‘Just Blink Twice’

FMFL (Functional Music for Lovers) is the new project by Adam Matschulat (Godasadog, Matschulat). Exploring new territories from previous projects, FMFL is a refreshingly unpretentious and vulnerable synth-pop with minimalist and ethereal characteristics.

The project was fully conceived in Deptford, South East London, where the Brazilian producer has lived for 10 years. At the project’s conception, Adam asked himself: “What does this project means to me?” he continues, “FMFL is a portal to a more vulnerable and magical place. Its innocent and wonderful; its heartfelt.”

“Just Blink Twice”, the first single of the album, speaks about devotion, how a couple deals with the difficulties in life with a transparent emotional approach. The lyrics describes a loved one who is on a destructive path and it shows how the other half takes notice, but understands its powerlessness to the situation, showing its support by reassuring that she/he “will be there no matter how hard things turn to”.

FMFL is Adam’s first appearance as a singer/songwriter on a music project. “I always had this wish to write songs even though to this day I have only worked as a producer. It was an interesting creative process to produce myself. It requires a lot patience and its challenging to keep the essence of the song while discovering its production values, its sonic territory, when they mean so much to you. Also, I am not a professional singer, I had vocal training for theatre in the past but I am definitely not a singer so for me its more about delivering the lyrics in my own way, very conscious of my limitations as a singer.”

The single “Just Blink Twice” has been released today, 17th January 2018, and it is available on all digital streaming platforms as well as on contemporary/alternative music label Resterecords’ Bandcamp. The debut self-titled album “Functional Music for Lovers”, containing 11 tracks, will be released in May 2018.
