Bottom Of The Pops: Bottom 10 Live / Mimed Performance Of The Week
1. The Cold Spells – Leviathan (25)
Why this languishes at the top of bottom of the pops is beyond us. The next Alt J ?
2. Raper Orzech – O Milosci (184)
Polish artist Raper Orzech features for the 2nd time on BOP. Has a Massive Attack meets hip hop Tom Waits vibe about it.
3. Filthy Huns – Smooth Roll (178)
A couple of years old this one, but a great little discovery. I want to hear more of this lot.
4. David Nance – Dlatumf (204)
Thanks to Monolith blog for alerting us to the genius of David Nance. If you are ancient like BOP you’ll know the feeling you had when you first heard Beck’s Truckdrivin Neighbors Downstairs and tunes of a similar ilk. Here we go again…yaaay.
5. EMA – California (235)
Second week in a row for EMA. Loving her work.
6. Who Is She? – Seattle Freeze (243)
It jolly well pops along. You know the score, indie pop with a Ramones buzz.
7. JD Wilkes – Walk Between The Raindrops (278)
On Big Legal Mess Records, released in December. Tex Perkins meets Kid Congo ? Who knows.. not BOP.
8. Ami Shavit – Alpha 2 (301)
The theme tune for the Indian Space Programme? This is a top track, beautifully understated yet full of energy. God , we wish, all those people contributing music to those awful mixmag comp cd’s and their like could make music like this.
9. Jasmine Rodgers – While You Lay Sleeping (343)
All we can say is ahhh…. cute. But in a wonderful way.
10. Skiftande Enheter – Trott Pa Digg (391)
We finish of with a great slab of Swedish garage post punk rock and roll wonderfullness.. Check them live, we want to be there NOW
