New Music Spotlight: JayElbid – Rise and Fall
Germany based singer-songwriter JayElbid has recently released her debut single Rise and Fall, a melancholic ballad about the ups and downs of life and the resistance to surrender to negativity.
Coming from a classical background and showing an interest in piano and violin before primary school, JayElbid has always had a strong passion for music and turned to songwriting after illness left her unable to follow some of her past hobbies. After nearly a century of songwriting she felt ready to release her debut.
Impressively, Rise and Fall was written in one sitting and hasn’t been changed since, as it captured exactly the feeling and mood JayElbid wanted to portray. Recorded in the legendary Funkhaus Berlin, JayElbid’s vocals are reminiscent of Florence Welch and Enya and the single offers atmospheric and endearing simplicity.
In Review: Rise and Fall is like an angelic telling of love and loss, sublime, soothing yet powerful, the softness of her voice and the textures of the music mesh and yield a song that is a calling to a place in time, space and in the heart. Like the title, and much like the waters of a turbulent sea, this is a song about life and living it. This track is a winner and I look forward to hearing more by JayElbid.
The single is available to stream and download now and is the first release of many from the budding independent singer-songwriter.
