“Ceremony” by Catalina is unfamiliar, yet oddly comforting. It’s like looking through a view finder and getting a glimpse of a faded memory, and trying to piece together why it seems so tangible. It’s characterized by dynamic layers of synths and percussion, and weaved with ethereal vocals. It harnesses that “other-worldy” energy and packages it with the warmth of home.

Catalina is an indie rock duo comprised of Jakob Shaw and Eric Poretsky. Their songs are characterized by their atmospheric production and warmth, blending both electronic and organic sounds and live instruments. The duo met their freshman year of college, working on their first demos in Eric’s dorm room. Since then, they have been spending summers in New York and LA, working on their first record, going on long runs, and eating delicious meals.
