IndieShout Out: Nautilus

Letter to The Editor: “We felt this band has great music and great potential, their introduction letter to us was a great self -bio of the band and what they do, so we published it as the article.

‘The Oceanwalker’ is an intuitive album, it has strong emotional parts with creative symbologies, you need to hear this one for yourselves, a really great offering from “The Lands of Ice and Snow”

Hi IndiePulse!

We’re a band from Bergen, Norway called Nautilus and we recently released our debut album entitled ‘The Oceanwalker’. We play post-metal with influences from progressive rock/metal and post-rock. The band has members from four countries (Poland, USA, Norway, and France), but we all live in Bergen. The album features guest solos from members of the very talented Norwegian prog-rockers Seven Impale, Galactic Empire, and the American tech-death metallers Alustrium.

The Oceanwalker is our debut album and began many years ago as the solo project of Matt Weigand. After Matt moved to Bergen, Norway he joined a band called Værbitt and started collaborating with Eirik Ramsøy (one of the guitarists for Værbitt) and together they started to rewrite the Nautilus songs. Soon after Gautier Delavaud, from Paris, joined the team as the bassist and started to write bass for the album. Lastly, Fredrik Mekki Widerøe of the fantastic Norwegian prog rock band Seven Impale joined as the drummer, and Kamil Opaliński from Poland joined as the third guitarist and helped writing some final riffs for the album.

The goal for the album was just to write music we found interesting and to make a cohesive and coherent album from start to finish. Iver Sandøy (producer/mixing engineer most known for his work with Enslaved) mixed and mastered the album at Solslottet Studios. We think having members from four different countries with influences ranging from funk to prog to tech death metal and many other genres gives Nautilus a unique sound that we hope resonates with our listeners.

We hope you find something you like on the album if you get the chance to check it out.
