Noisebody is a wonderful, keyboard focused pop group based in Berlin.
The video for their single “Leaving Theme” was released today, April 9, 2018. The song is a chill uplifting track, hopeful of a love interest returning. The gravelly keys overtop bouncy bass and drums might remind one of “Between Two Stones”, an early Noisebody track. Though, as the tight rhythm guitar and the vocals come in, I’m reminded of early Prince.
Noah Barker says of the single, “The video was recorded in Louisville, KY on my phone amidst a road trip I had last summer while considering leaving New York City. I’m mostly breezing around Louisville trying to forget something I once had. Leaving Theme is about change, movement, evolution, coming, going, and of course – love. It was inspired by a relationship I had in Louisville that started in Shawnee Park and without warning phased out. It’s also inspired by Toro Y Moi’s “L to Leave”.
Noisebody, a jazz synth-driven pop group from Brooklyn, NY. Headed by Noah Barker, born in New York City and raised in Jeffersonville, NY, whom started playing piano at the age of 7, but it wasn’t until 2003 that he became actively involved in the local music scene, playing piano in church and drums in rock and punk bands. In high school, Noah took a serious interest in jazz and it was around this time that he began recording his songs by 4-track cassette, GarageBand, Reason, and Ableton.
After graduating college in 2011, a 6-song EP titled You Are Here was recorded in Louisville, KY and released under the name “Noise New York”. Upon relocating to Brooklyn in 2012, Barker reformed the band, changed its name and released Noisebody’s first full length Upstream Dreams. Stepping away from the synth rock sound of You Are Here, Upstream Dreams is a bit more focused, sophisticated and chill, characterized by gravelly keys and tight, punchy bass and drums. Since then, Noisebody recorded at the Converse Rubber Tracks studio in Brooklyn, the outcome of which is Condition and released an EP in 2017 titled In the Pouring Sun.”
