“”Circuits” is about vulnerability. I wanted to portray that idea throughout the music video in an abstract way by splitting the scenes between the child’s fever dream (shots in the woods) and the mother and doctor in the house. During the fever dream, the child is confronted by two tropes of “good” and “bad,” not knowing who to trust. In the house, the doctor who is seemingly supposed to help the child get better, is actually looking to poison him. These conflicts represent the gray area of vulnerability and facing this adversity, despite things looking bleak.” – Christian Singh, vocals of A Boy Named John
A Boy Named John’s new single, “Circuits,” was produced/engineered by Brett Romnes (I Am The Avalanche, The Movielife) at Barber Shop Studios in Hopatcong, NJ, mastered by Chris Gehringer of Sterling Sound and the video was directed by Eric DiCarlo of SquareUp Studios.
A Boy Named John establishes a tasteful mixture of explosive punk rock and post-hardcore components with gentle indie elements to concoct a new take on a classic Jersey alternative rock sound. The band consists of vocalist Christian Singh, guitarists Josh Lustig and Jack Lips, bassist Nick Spillert, keyboardist/guitarist Paul Singh, and drummer Brandon Martinez. In their 2016 debut album So We Live | So We Die, the group delivers their outspoken message by incorporating the delicacy of theatrical instrumentals, powerful vocal melodies, and their insightful and narrative lyrics. Their song “Gentlemen” has become a staple in the New Jersey music scene and beyond for its impactful stand against sexual assault. Following their full length effort, A Boy Named John pushes their musical vision even further with their latest single “Circuits”.
The band will be performing at Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ with This Curse on April 26th, and will be announcing additional tour dates soon.
