CRi RELEASES TWO NEW SONGS
Me And My Friends, the new two-song EP by Canadian producer CRi is now available on all digital platforms.
With this mini-Ep, producer CRi brings us back to the times of two-sided vinyl format, with the lead single on the A-side and, on the B-side, a title dear to the artist. The single here is called Me and my Friends, a splendid work which depicts the artist’s encounter with singer Sophia Bel, and ultimately the beginning of a friendship built around cigarette breaks and seemingly never ending studio sessions.
The B-side, Friends in Secrets, opens the door to an alternate, nocturnal universe where we let ourselves be submerged by an uncontrollable and invading melancholy. Together, these two titles are the echo of a persistent dilemma for this Montreal-born artist; to become locked in the riches of loneliness or to succumb to the constant need to be in contact with others. No matter the answer, this Junos-nominated artist is once again beyond convincing, the “CRi” becomes a euphemism as his vibrant music actually screams aloud.
CRi quickly made his mark on the Montreal electronic scene by offering a singular sound influenced by house synths, syncopated snares and a futuristic bassline. Self-taught, the artist managed to make a name for himself through his two EPs Tell Her and Someone Else, on TOKiMONSTA’s famous label Young Art. So far, 2018 has been a year full of great surprises for the artist, including a Juno nomination for the EP Someone Else and an MMVA and a PRISM nomination for the breathtaking video Rush. However, he doesn’t stop there. His last release, a mini EP containing two titles, marks the continuity of a work driven by his anxieties and his desire for introspection. His first LP is expected for 2019.
