The ambitious young artist is back with his second EP of the year
Ambitious young Connecticut-bred producer, engineer and vocalist Kevin George unveils his second EP of an already prolific 2018, ‘FORTINA’. The 7-track project features only two guests, fellow Connecticut artist Billy and YSL signed rapper Gunna.
In just a few months, Kevin George has gone on to amass millions of streams online and already growing into the potential he flashed on early gems like “High Like This” and “My Crew.” Now, three months after releasing his self-produced/engineered, debut EP, LOVELAND, the independent lo-fi bedroom artist is already back with the follow-up: a seven-song project called FORTINA.
Executive produced by himself, FORTINA is full of songs that take time to experiment and explore weird, hazy territories. But that won’t stop any of these melodies from getting stuck in your head on first listen. “FORTINA is an ode to my favorite restaurant in my city,” he explains. “I want the kids in my city to have something to be proud of. I want to continue to give my generation genre-bending, exciting songs.”
The project serves to cement Kevin George as one of the most exciting up and comers to emerge this year, serving up brooding, reverb-drenched vocals well matched by his own shadowy production.
Kevin George has earned the support from music industry tastemakers such as Zane Lowe rising to acclaim the talent of this self-contained artist/producer. With influences ranging from Prince & Tame Impala to The Weeknd, Kevin George and his brand of hip-pop has quickly picked up a following, and he’s just getting started.
Earmarked as one of the best new artists of the year by Pigeons & Planes, Kevin George has also earned praise from the likes of FADER, Noisey, Lyrical Lemonade and Complex.
