Single Review: Cory M. Coons “Once Too Many, Twice Not Enough”

Today, we’re checking out the new single release from Ottawa, Ontario Canada’s Cory M. Coons.  Cory is a renowned singer-songwriter with a penchant for memorable melodic rock.  In 2015, he was nominated at the “Producer’s Choice Honors”, (formerly Los Angeles Music Awards), in the “Rock Artist Of The Year” category. In 2014, Coons won the Producer’s Choice Honor for “Studio Album Of The Year” for his Independent EP “Share A Little Time.” Coons also received nominations for “Male Singer/Songwriter” and “Record Of The Year.”  Now, Cory M. Coons returns with a brand new melodic rock album, “The Long Road Home”, which includes his latest single, “Once Too Many, Twice Not Enough.” As with Coon’s previously mentioned EP, Multi-Gold and Platinum veteran music producer Ron Nevison, (Heart, Bad Company, Chicago, Damn Yankees, Survivor, Styx, Night Ranger) returned to produce the project. MTS Management Group has been brought in to promote the single release.

First, let me say that Coons’ voice is wonderful. It is clear yet natural; not an overpolished voice featured in a reality show. It reminds a bit of Jon Bon Jovi and John Waite. (I think Night Ranger, after reading the press release, was what I’d been looking for). The song is pretty easy listening, and it could fit well on both rock and country playlists. It has an organic feeling to it, and it’s definitely catchy!

I think the best way to define it would be “timeless”. This could have found its way in the 70’s, 80’s, even during the 90’s and right now, with the resurgence of singers-songwriters showcasing their talents.

This song, “Once Too Many, Twice Not Enough” is just a small piece of an amazing album with a lot of personality. (Yes, I cheated and listened to the other songs). There’s something solid going on here, and it’s nice to see some people are still worried about making good music.
