IndieShout Out: Villain + Zavier

New Jersey based duo Villain + Zavier, is an alternative/indie pop/darkwave team creating music in a style similar to other duos like Twenty One Pilots and Death From Above.

Described as a cross between The Neighbourhood and Editors, The 1975 meets The Bravery, and TV On The Radio on Joywave, their experience and background are as performing/touring members in other NYC/NJ area bands, and studio work as producers and session players. They met while working with mutual friend, Jayson Dezuzio (Imagine Dragons, X Ambassadors, Skylar Grey, Christina Aguilera) when he was working on albums and songs for Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes, Powers, Four Year Strong, among others others at Jersey City studios, Treehouse Sounds.

Soon after getting to know each other they realized they had the same musical tastes and styles, and almost immediately started working on music together. This culminated in a remix for ††† (Crosses: Chino Moreno from Deftones, Shaun Lopez of Far, Chuck Doom of Saudade), which was released in 2014. Since then they’ve worked on music for other artists, but have finally started completing and releasing their own material.

Their first single is “You + I”, and it’s been described as an epic yet moody meeting of Joy Division and Tears for Fears at a Brooklyn coffee shop with the boys from Twenty One Pilots as their servers.
