High Desert group Jason Robert and Stone Stanleymake their performing debut this Labor Day weekend at New Blues Festival V, on the Golden Groove Stage, Sunday, September 2. Set Time: 11am. The New Blues Festival takes place at El Dorado Regional Park, 7550 E. Spring St. in Long Beach, September 1st and 2nd.

Tickets / info: www.newbluesfestival.com. Roberts also once again performs at the 6th Annual Woodystock Blues-Rock Festival in Apple Valley, Saturday, October 6th.

Jason Robert is the singer/songwriter/guitarist who fronts Stone Stanley. He recently celebrated the release of the band’s latest video “Bitter End” from their acclaimed album The Mudstomp Tapes, in front of a SRO audience at The Hilltop in Apple Valley. Bitter End, Roberts explains, is “a Crossroads-like tale which focuses on pleasure over burden, longevity over burnout. Hardship and adversity are overcome with perseverance, in music and in life.” The LA Music Critic in their “Ten (Plus Five) Amazing Videos Released in June” column, writes, “We love the down-home flavor of “Bitter End” and think you will too.” Bitter End was released to the public via You Tube on June 23.

Bitter End is one of the twelve tracks that comprise The Mudstomp Tapes, Stone Stanley’s 2017 album which has received great reviews both in the U.S. and abroad. Robert describes the Mudstomp sound as “a very muddy sound predicated on the back-beat of drums and distorted acoustic guitars with a lot of re-verb on the drums and vocals. It’s something that has organically grown out of my solo work. The feeling is one of stomping through the Desert during a Mid-Summer rain on a Saturday night.” Musically, Robert says, “it encompasses an eclectic mix of blues, folk, rock, and a hint of reggae, that takes on a life of its own.”

Watch for the release of Robert’s upcoming album, “The Death Of Stone Stanley,” this Fall.

What The Press Is Saying About The Mudstomp Tapes/Stone Stanley

“Robert straddles the various genres with the grace of a tightrope walker. He picks bits and pieces from each and rearranges them into a new a musically delightful pattern, and finds new ways to explore old themes. The music runs the gamut from ethereal to rocking. Robert also has heart and soul and is certainly not afraid to put them out on display.”

Professor Johnyy P’s Juke Joint

“The songs (on The Mudstomp Tapes) go in and out of emotional switches…they are analogies, tall tales and short stories, “Bitter End”, “Bottled”, Cobble Hill, “Freedom Chant”, Iroquois Chant”, “My Shame”, “So Glad”– just one hit after the other with the “Slap” of honesty.”

Indie Pulse Music

“A terrific album, full of grit and soul and steeped in the Blues. Lead man Jason Robert and his hard-edged vocal and slide guitar is very well backed by a revolving set of musicians who add immeasurably to his vision. One of the better and more edgy albums I’ve heard this year.”
