Artist Spotlight: Paper Gliders
Paper Gliders, Houston Texas based 6 piece Indie Band featuring 3 part harmonies, progressive and pop arrangements with both athstetic and cultural diversity are releasing a great new EP titled “Trials” coming out this September 7th 2018 will be available on every major streaming platform.
“Trials” is a unique album, with it’s intricate guitar melodies, and 3 distinct lead singers. As the Houston Press writes, “There’s something about this six piece that’s best described by catching them live, where they captivate your attention and hold it from start to finish.” This band was formed in 2017 with one goal in mind– to create music that was familiar yet ambitiously different.
Although the “Trials” EP is a short 3 track offering (at time of review the track listing was 3 distinctive tracks) is full of vibrant and hypnotic wonder, the talent of these artists individually and together is really something to be admired, showing that the large group format does work to the benefit of an album’s development.
Opening with the track “This Magazine Scene” we are immediately offered a blissful refrain in vocal harmonies and delightful timbers that definitely were meant to be together, stunning and rich in soundscapes. Followed by “Petri Dish” a slow and gripping, hauntingly romantic song that tugs at the heart. “Trials” came to an all too sudden end with the 3rd track “Birthday Candles“, I have to say I do believe I have fallen in love with this woman’s voice, the Keyboard work is phenomenal and draws you into a storm of emotions, then with the additional backing vocals so light and almost ghosting the emotional refrains, thihs is what music is supposed to do, make you want to live.
