1 The Franceens – Alright (43)

From 2015 and how on earth did we miss them. Makes the Hives sound like a prog rock band from ’72 . They’re alright and that’s all you need to know.

2 Sungod – Dream Sequence  (51)

Like the Floyd in the early 70’s with an eastern refraction. Just released last month and we love them.

3 Malawi Mouse Boys – Palibe ( It’s Not There) (148)

They are back and always the simplest joys are the best. Ed Sheeran couldn’t find this soul, even if he ripped out James Brown’s heart and ate it whilst it was still beating.

4 Wingtip Sloat – Anything Could Happen (223)

Wingtip Sloat hailed out of Virginia in the early 90’s and this is an absolutely blinding cover of the Clean classic, Anything Could Happen. We weep with joy at BOP
5  Mr Airplane Man – Where We Belong  (358)

Off their latest  album Jacaranda Blue”, 2018. Wow.. wow wow how did we miss this Boston band? Their latest album is stunning . This song  sounds likes the Velvets meets, Mazzy Star and lets have a bit of Nancy Sinatra too. Beauty, art and all that.
6  Michele Mecure – Eyechant (372)

Loving this.. does exactly what it says on the box. Laurie Anderson vibes but with more warmth.

7  20th Century Tokyo Princess – 99 Years (414)

Another great US Band that  we missed. Thanks to Brian of the Bordellos for bringing them to our attention. They are seriously good, would i dare suggest that primal scream only got halfway here when they got noisy.

8 N’Draman Blintch – Cosmic Sounds (534)

Another great re-discovery from Nigeria, originally released way back in 1980. Jean Michel Jarre gets funky with Donna Summer ?   Whatever it is, it’s 10 minutes of pure pleasure.

9  Fernando – Actual Job (570)

Analgue electronica of the type that just entrances us.

10   Levitros – Farfara (747)

From the comp Various Artist – Hafla! – A Rough Guide to Jaffa’s 70’s Sound – Compiled by Fortuna Records • Here’s the story. It’s a killer comp.We love food. Like really. So when our brothers at Haachim restaurant asked us to compile a special Fortuna LP for their restaurant, we said hell yesss! And here it is: “Hafla”, a set of 10 killer tunes we licensed especially for this compilation. One-off tracks from the golden era of Jaffa, dancefloor certified bangers, and all-time personal favorites!

Because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know.

We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know.

But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don’t know we don’t know.
