Dad Nap’s new DIY Folk Punk EP ‘Worn Out
Indie Artists have been known to be a resourceful lot, often making music when and where they can, following their dreams and having to tight up a bit of gear since budgets often don’t meet the industry standards. I have heard of musicians making studios out of every room in a house, but this artist, known as dad seems to have found a new use for the newest of studios… a Kitchen.
Based out of Nottingham UK, the multi talented artist Strong Simon, A.K.A “Dad Nap” is a “little one man band” whom has recently released a new album titled ‘Worn Out’ today.
He recorded the whole thing in a kitchen “I’m really proud of it and I’m stoked to share it with you. Worn Out was recorded with a budget of £0.00 with free recording software and a very old microphone in the kitchen where I work when no-one was looking over the course of a few weeks. Shh don’t tell anyone.”
The 4 song album / EP “Worn out” is a fun and frying pan supported frolic in a realm that is so very UK, and listening, I am reminded of the hit show “Young Ones” and this is for sure what they would be listening to in the mod times of Brit Beat, now in this day of high sophisticated recordings, knowing that this musician has done it all on his onsies in his Kitchen, well, we are amused and very impressed.
the concept of Folk – Punk is really a modern adaptation of using the folk music method to modern transcription, some that try to do this often over complicate the rhythms and tempos and it sounds muddy or worked, Dad Nap’s album “Worn Out” is a upbeat and refreshingly powerful head nodder, and the rendition of “I Will Survive” would make the 70’s Disco Inferno Herself feel proud, as well as envious.
So, Download “Worn Out”, pull a pint and get your groove on.
