Laya Laya tell a story of “Both”

Laya Laya, a writer-producer group based in East London creates a blend of  Electronic, Pop, RnB, and Dance in their  “hybrid” sound.

Their first track of many, soon to be released in support of a fourth coming album.  the initial track titled “Bothout on September 24th, along with with more singles and a remix EP to follow shortly after. “Both” is the debut release from London based songwriting-production duo Laya Laya, mastered at Metropolis Studios London.

It began as an idea at a dining table and turned into an Electronic RnB song“. says Laya Laya. The track started at producer Super Joshi’s dining table. Intending to make a Drum ’n’ Bass track, he ended up stripping some of the drum parts away to make a half-time beat and “Both” was born. The track is about feeling love and hate at the same time and how the to-ing and fro-ing between the two can make you stuck -“ambivalence holds me to the ground ambivalence wish you were around.“

Somewhere between Pop, Dance and RnB. This is no surprise when Laya Laya cite their varied influences as Lion Babe, Disclosure, Banks, Frank Ocean, Little Dragon and Sohn.

The lyric concept of the track came about at the Hackney Wick studio where Laya Laya work from. Vocalist and Songwriter, Freya, came to the studio session with an idea to write about ‘ambivalence’ – to have mixed feelings about something or someone.

Laya Laya describe themselves as “Sitting outside of music trends “We make what we like, even if it’s random, as long as the hook is catchy and the beat is strong. We definitely want our music to be accessible from the first listen”.

Both” will be available on all major music streaming service on September 24th, 2018
