Australian Singer/Songwriter Artist Ashley Iona releases new single ‘Leaving’.
Ashley Iona’s new single Leaving, set to be released on October 12th, is a moving track featuring her smooth vocals and beautiful electric guitar.
‘Leaving’, was written by Ashley after a desire to put her thoughts into song, she wanted to create a track that encompasses her passion in live performances. After always working with producers, she decided to take the lead on this one, giving her the freedom to personally shape it.
Ashley Iona is no stranger to the industry, having co written a song that was a sync with MTV on the Season finale of their show Scream.
More recently, Ashley was selected as a finalist in the Australian UniSounds 2018 Competition, beating out 150 other acts and receiving 4000 public votes for her tracks. Hiding her talents until moving to LA in 2011, she has since been compared to the likes of Florence and the Machine and Alison Moyet.
Lyrically, this song comes after a tough break up, struggling with heartbreak meant that making music was an escape. As she goes through love and loss, she lets us in to relate to her journey of discovery.
‘Leaving’ also represents Ashley’s first hand at production, choosing to co-produce this song with guitarist, John Romeo. “I’ve always hired a producer, but then felt like by the end of the process, I was negotiating for what I wanted. I already knew how I wanted this song to sound, so I decided to ask Johnny if he’d help me make it.”
