News from TRISTAN GIANOLA

Guitarist / Composer Tristan Gianola is quite busy these days and we thought we would share with you some news of what he is up to and where you can see him in Musical Action…

December 4: Torture Garden
On Tuesday December 4th, Tristan Gianola will be performing music from Naked City’s iconic grindcore-jazz album “Torture Garden” with an all-star cast of NOLA musicians at the Hi-Ho Lounge, part of the Common Tone Music Series. He had the pleasure of playing this thrilling music with Wayne Horvitz (one of the original members of Naked City) in Seattle back in 2013, and is excited to be doing it with Brad Walker (sax), Murdertits! (screams), Daniel Meinecke (keys), Oliver Watkinson (bass) and Moses Eder (drums).

December 11: Tristan Gianola Quartet (Seattle)
Tristan Gianola will be presenting a set of music at The Royal Room in Seattle, WA on December 11 while home for the holidays. Looking forward to seeing his Seattle family! He will be joined by Marina Albero (keys), Geoff Harper (bass) and Adam Kozie (drums). Added to the bill is composer/trombonist/educator Naomi Moon Siegal and her band who will be in town from Montana. Tickets available.

January 8: Ask the Ages
Sonny Sharrock’s 1991 album Ask the Ages continues to inspire him, and after playing some of Sharrock’s music in Guitar is Dead and other projects, Tristan thought it would be fun to ring in the New Year by playing Ask the Ages in its entirety. Rob Cambre, guitar master and curator of experimental music in NOLA, and he will join forces on guitars to conjure the ghost of Sharrock, with Ari Kohn (sax), Stephen Bohnstengel (bass) and Lucas Bogner (drums).

Guitar is Dead
Guitar is Dead continues to search for a home for their debut album while setting up touring for later winter and spring. Want to keep updated on performances and the release of our album? Follow them at facebook.com/guitarisdead for regular updates and shredding!

“Eyes” – New Single
Tristan Gianola’s latest single “Eyes” is now available for download on his bandcamp and streaming on his soundcloud. Composed by William Hayes, Tristan has loved this composition since it was written in 2011. For this recording, a collaboration with Forrest Reiff at NOLA’s Pearl Studio, he decided to take a cinematic approach in the arrangement, utilizing large sounds in contrast to the sparse nature of the piece with lots of guitar tracking. Enjoy.
