New Video – Alright Albuquerque by the Shine
The recent release by The Shine, titled Call Augie, is a phenomenal EP of 4 energized tracks that I feel is a synopsis of what the band is all about, there is something for everyone to enjoy, from the Rock based rhythms and the lyrical flow, there is definitely a strong urban story telling style enhanced with a punk era rebellious streak that makes for great music.
The EP opens with the blasting track Perpetrated, which is a floor slammer, giving you a sense of dealing with a world gone mad and fighting back against overwhelming odds. The video above Alright Albuquerque, which is the second awe inspiring track off the EP, can be the “what if” moment, when madness seems normal and normal is unobtainable. The track Call Him, sounds like a throw back to the 60’s / 70’s R&B / Funk sounds of WAR and has a powerful lyrical edge, this song would make Funkadelic Dance. The EP rounds out with a finally titles Pick Me Up, which could be a break up song, or a break down ballad, its all in the perspective.
The finer point is the lyrical energy, which, supported by talented musical performance, sets a tone that is both inner city and highbrow. Fresh, Original and simply some of the best music to hit the scene that merges all the styles into one voice that screams the truth of living in this world, right here and right now, deal with it!
I see this group setting the bar for 2019 and beyond, Ya Heard !
