New Employment For Rock / Indie Band Kaiser Chiefs

As many of you already know, Kaiser Chiefs is a band from Leeds, formed in 2000 as Parva, and they release English indie rock music. The band currently exists of the lead vocalist Ricky Wilson, bassist Simon Rix, guitarist Andrew White, keyboardist and an occasional drummer Nick Baines; and as of 2013 drummer Vijay Mistry.

New employment

The band Kaiser Chiefs have rocked up to the York Art Gallery, adding an exhibition that contrasts the paintings they applaud, with songs and sound art. ”Playing guitar in front of 10, 000 people is not something I am nervous about anymore,” said Simon Rix, “But this is different”.

He is obviously talking about the first-ever art show of their band, which is opening at York Art Gallery. He organized the exhibition alongside the drummer Vijay Mistry, and the two of them are certainly feeling the pressure.

When the band was first approached back in June 2017, to organize the show in York the goal was simple: “Pick the work and choose the music that will go along with it”, which is also when they realized that they could take this anywhere they wanted, within reason.

But, only one of them has an artistic background

Out of the five, only one has a formal background in art; Wilson has studied and then taught graphical design. He believes that it is never too late to follow what you believe in. Wilson and Rix have been friends for a long time, ever since they were 16, and it is kind of silly to think that Rix now spends his holidays with art expositions, said Wilson, adding “But I enjoy watching him bloom”.
