Sylvain Black Debuts Allez West
Sylvain Black, French Born LA Raised Artist Debuts His Classic Country Album Allez West
Sylvain Black sings 10 Classic Country songs in French on his debut album, Allez West, available now on iTunes and Amazon. Allez West features Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Drummer Clem Burke of Blondie, and Tim Young, lead guitarist for James Corden’s The Late Late Show band. Allez West includes original French translations of such country classics as Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire,” Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again,” and the legendary “Ghost Riders in the Sky.”
Sylvain Black was born in the South of France, his family hailing from Marseille. Black moved to the United States as a teenager and quickly developed a love for Classic Country stars including Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, and Merle Haggard.
The 2018, self-produced album, Allez West, is Sylvain Black’s tribute to his French heritage and Classic Country music. Sylvain Black is the first performer to translate and sing in French Classic Country songs such as: “Ring of Fire” (Le Cercle de Feu); “Ghost Riders in the Sky” (Les Cavaliers du Ciel); and Patsy Cline’s “You’re Stronger than Me” (T’es plus forte que moi). “Translating these songs into French is such an honor and challenge,” notes Black. “People in France have always had a fascination with American culture from the Old West to Rock ‘n’ Roll to cowboy movies. The stories will be familiar to people in France, but they’ve never been heard quite like this.”
