Artist Spotlight: Stevie Bankster

Stevie Bankster, an extraordinary, independent talent from Melbourne, Australia is making a real name for himself in the International Independent Music Scene.

Stevie oozed individuality as a child, he was articulate with unwavering heart and his undying love for music and storytelling began at birth. From there he has honed and worked on his unique sound and voice; a blend of HipHop, R&B and Pop to create a sound matched by none.

The true definition of a self-starter, working relentlessly to support his dreams, an artist with a voice so smooth and a soul you can connect with- with every word Stevie will make you feel. Drawing style inspiration from old school Hollywood and eclectic, vintage tastes, not afraid to embrace the individual inside.

2016 brought big things for Stevie with the launch of his debut mixtape ‘&’.

Low is a track full of angst and power, a hype song, an anthem of strength and moving forward.

Low was birthed in Nashville TN, Stevie was there for a week creating some tunes with producer, prodigy Ben Flanders. The lyrics and melody came to him as he sat alone; cross-legged on a squishy couch in his shack-like airbnb. This was the last track to create during his visit to Nashville and the pressure was on to write something authentic and end on a high.

Just that day he had spoken to a “friend” whom he had shared his other fresh tracks with. That “Friend” trashed and assaulted his creativity and my vision, he received no love, no support- just ego… From that realization and raw place of emotion, I penned the lyric

‘Never thought you’d stoop so low’ and the rest flowed out like a journal entry in life’s diary.

Stevie “painted the images of the artwork myself using $5 kmart water paints and the feeling that the music gave me inside as inspiration”, he then worked with Melbourne graphic designer Justin Lalor to put his images into a cover that fit the vibe. The inherent potential that this tune has to reach a wide audience as an urban fusion of hip-hop, rnb and trap. It breaks the mold.

Things are only getting better with the release of his new tunes coming throughout 2018, starting with ‘Low’ scheduled for release on the 18th of January but available for pre-order on iTunes now.

A music video will be released around a week from release.
