1 Rolando Simmons – Haze on the Lake (196)
Released in the depths of a norther winter this sounds great in the heat of a southern hemisphere summer. It’s like Ultramarine on their classic “Every Man & Woman Is A Star” go acid. A must listen.
2 Mdou Moctar – LLmouloud(220)
Arnother great release on that wonderful label, Sahel Sounds. Less raw than the first release this album brings out Moctar’s soul and the man isn’t short of it. A rising star around the world and deservedly so
3 TBetonkust & Palmbomen II – Working In The Attic (223)
What can we say, new Palbolmen II just out listen now or regret it. We’re suckers for Palmbomen II and so should you be.
4 Ubik – Andrew Bolt’s Twitter Account (308)
We’re a year late with this one. But it’s worth coming across a year late as it applies today as it did a year ago and will again this time next year. Trolls be damned we say.
5 British Murder Boys – Hate Is Such A Strong Word (318 )
Yep as above it’s a year old and as applicable today and we’ll let you guess who’s speaking. But we agree , great track, great band name and as he says .. let the night roar. Tune.
6 Shanti Celeste & Hodge – Pips (319)
This is one of those balearicy electronic tunes that just sucks you in and never lets go. Love it
7 Pavo Pavo – Goldenrod (546)
Great recent release on Bella Union . We’d not heard Pavo Pavo before but will be listening with a keener ear from now on.
8 Feet – English Weather (591)
It’s always a topic of conversation .. isn’t it. !
9 Vintage Crop – Headache (700)
This one’s a couple of years old and why it’s only operating on 700 views is completely beyond us. All angular guitar and slightly bored lyrics delivery. Perfect.
10 Housewives – SmttnKttns (845)
We like a record we can’t really describe.. it could be avant garde post punk jazzular but it isn’t really . We doubt they’ll go billboard top 10 but it does sound like now.
